WRNC invites wildlife rehabilitators, veterinarians, vet techs and associated wildlife professionals to attend its 22nd symposium. The symposium is being held at NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine in Raleigh on January 20 -21, 2024.
In addition to general sessions appropriate for all rehabilitators, there is a track of sessions for beginning rehabilitators. There is a track of sessions that is approved for veterinary CE credit and a track approved for vet techs. A variety of workshops are offered. Many sessions are appropriate for more than one track.

WRNC is again providing RVS training at the symposium. It includes sessions on the new regulations, permit application requirements and procedures, and permit restrictions taught by the NCWRC (2 hours). The Department of Health is teaching about rabies, vectors, vaccinations, titers, testing and more (2 hours). Expert instructors for the various rabies vector species are covering handling, housing and care for each species (8+ hours). These sessions cover the 12 hours of required training needed to qualify for the permit.

Registration
The registration fee for non-members is $90 for registrations made by January 7 and $100 after January 7. There is a discount for members. Members need to login to get the reduced fee of $65. There is an additional fee for each lab taken. A catered lunch is available on Saturday and Sunday for $5 per meal. There is a $15 fee for registrants who wish to attend the banquet.
We are using the Office of Continuing Education at NCSU to process our registrations. When you click on one of the links below, you will be transferred from here to the CE Office site to registration for the symposium. If you are a member, you must be logged in to register for the discounted price. If you are not a member or your membership has expired, you can join/renew first, log in and then come back and register for the reduced fee of $65.
A confirmation email is sent from the CE Office after you register. It lists the options that you chose (labs, lunches, banquet). Please check the email carefully to ensure that you have made the lab, lunch and banquet reservations that you want. We recommend you bring a copy of the email with you as it is your proof that you made the reservation.
There is a discount for members. To get the discount you must be logged in when you register.

Online registration will be open through Tuesday, January 16. It will be closed after Tuesday, but you may come and pay your registration fee at the door.

Workshops/labs
There is a $5 fee for each lab taken. The fees help cover the cost of supplies used in the labs. There is a $25 fee for the opossum wheel workshop. The fee helps cover the cost of the materials used to build the wheel.
You are required to select and pay for labs/workshop when you register. Please read the descriptions of the labs in the session abstracts before deciding on the labs that you wish to take. We encourage everyone to sign up for labs with care. The lab fee is non-refundable and non-transferable if you later change your mind. Also, if you select a lab and then don’t attend, you may keep someone else who wanted to attend from doing so.
Seats in labs are reserved on a first come first serve basis. Register early to insure placement in the labs of your choice.
Taking photographs is not permitted in the labs.
If you are allergic to latex please bring your own gloves.

Events
Banquet
Enjoy great food and lots of fellowship at our catered banquet Saturday evening. The banquet is held at the James G. Martin Building. It starts at 6:30. There is a $15 fee for registrants who wish to attend the banquet. Reservations for the banquet must be made by Friday, January 12.

Symposium Scholarships
Three scholarships, that cover the symposium attendance fee and hotel lodging* are available for WRNC members with financial need. To apply send an email to the WRNC president explaining how you expect to benefit from the symposium and why financial assistance to attend is needed. Applications must be received no later than December 15, 2023.

Continuing Education Credit
The WRNC symposium is approved for continuing education units for renewal of the Certified Wildlife Rehabilitor (CWR) certificate.
The WRNC symposium is approved for up to 10 hours of veterinary CE credit in North Carolina.
The WRNC symposium is approved for up to 12 hours of vet tech CE credit in North Carolina.
